Training Weekend Jan 2011

Date: 29 Jan, 2011
Time:
Location: NFTS Station Road Beaconsfield HP9 1LG

The IBS is delighted to announce the return, after several years’ absence, of their much-loved Training Weekend which will be held at National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th January 2011.

The weekend event will include a number of seminars on topics such as digital recording, timecode and synchronisation, surround sound and Dolby E, loudness control and, particularly topical, the practicalities of the upcoming shift of radio microphones to Channel 38.

PROGRAMME

The programme covers a wide range of activity and subjects. Guest speakers include Chris Woolf (freelance consultant and technical adviser to Rycote), Mark Yonge (AES Standards Manager) and Jeff Booth (Red Bee).

Running in parallel with the seminar programme the IBS will be offering an opportunity for guests to ‘have-a-go’ at some complex music mixing on a number of platforms, using a variety of multi-track sources and mixing desks. There will also be a masterclass in lighting and camera operating for those sound recordists interested in multiskilling.

ACCOMMODATION

There is a range of local hotels

FLEXIBLE

Previous IBS Training Weekends have been residential, but this year we’re giving guests the opportunity to buy tickets for either day, separately, or for the full weekend, enabling guests the option to keep their costs to a minimum. The IBS will assist guests to book their own accommodation in one of several affordable and nearby hotels.

No IBS Training Weekend would be complete without its social side, of course, and there will be a dinner on the Saturday evening with a guest speaker. (View menu)

IBS Chairman Simon Bishop said, “I am genuinely excited that the IBS is going to be able to facilitate another of our very popular training weekends. We are pulling out all the stops to make the training on offer for this weekend pretty much unmissable, and some of it will certainly be unique. Many of the presenters bring with them huge authority and experience, and to get them all together in one place for a weekend is a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge, network, and make new contacts.”
