Lead Sheet : In the popular music world it is common practice for a lead sheet to be prepared by the copyist in the same way as each players’ part is copied. It is a form of reduced score, generally on one stave of manuscript, or as a “piano” reduction, with the principal parts of the arrangement - the “leads” - highlighted to guide the balancer during recordings or broadcasts.
