Badische Anilin und Soda Fabrik in Ludwigshafen (previously I G Farben). Dye, soda and paint maker which used iron oxide as a pigment. Developed the ideas of Pfleumer and made the homogeneous oxide based Type C tape used on a Telefunken/AEG K-2 Magnetophon which was used to record the LPO Concert in the BASF Leisure Centre (the Fierabendhaus) on November 19th 1936, using a single Neumann M6 condenser mic. The recording was later issued in the 1970s on EMI SH100. Comparison should be made with this recording and those made by the BBC at around the same time, using the then vastly superior Philips-Miller film system.
